Safeguarding at St Brides

What is Safeguarding ?

The Children and Young People (Scotland) Act imposes legal duties on organisations to protect children. The Act defines children as those who have not yet reached their 18th birthday.

In some circumstances, adults aged 18 and above may also require Safeguarding. A vulnerable adult in Safeguarding is an individual aged 18 or over who, due to age, illness, or disability, cannot protect themselves from harm, neglect, or exploitation. The Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 enables local councils to investigate and act when an adult is at risk of harm.

Those who work with Children or Vulnerable Adults at St Bride’s must be registered under the PVG Scheme which is managed by Disclosure Scotland, This scheme checks the background and history of individuals.
