The St Bride’s Great Animal Safari Trail
11:30–15:30
Especially suitable for families with children aged 5+
Look carefully and you will find carvings of different tiny animals hidden in the woodwork of the church choir stalls. In this trail, you will go on safari and see how many creatures you can find and identify. Beware: some animals might scratch or bite!
Sunday 20th September: lluminating the Divine – a short tour of St Bride’s stained glass 11:45-12:30 and 13:30–14:15
St Bride’s has a small but very fine collection of important stained-glass windows dating from the first half of the twentieth century. In this tour, you will hear about the design of the windows, their makers, some of the stories they illustrate, and the symbols they contain.

Knitting whilst Nattering 12:00–13:30
Fancy trying your hand at knitting or crochet? Come along and meet some of the St Bride’s Knit and Natter group over a cuppa. Everyone from complete beginners to the more experienced can contribute to our group blanket. You are also welcome to bring along your own project. No experience is required, and all materials will be provided.
Sunday 20th September West End Sculptures 13.30 til 15.00
Glasgow sculpture historian (and newcomer to our congregation) Gary Nisbet presents an illustrated talk on the sculptures carved on St Bride’s and other churches and buildings in Glasgow’s West End. St Bride’s is handsomely decorated, and its ornament is rich in symbolism and craftsmanship. In this talk, he will explore the meaning behind the symbols and the stories of some of the people who carved them, and investigate some of their work elsewhere.
St Bride’s is a landmark among the West End’s finest buildings, and its sculpture is a perfect introduction to the sculpture that also adorns them. We hope you enjoy this visual tour of the neighbourhood’s sculptural gems, with St Bride’s as its starting point.
